HYPERSPACE: Best Discoveries of the Week – Episode Ninety-Two
Get ready for the Hyperspace Jump.
We are in full festival season, and with this in mind, we created an episode of songs we would love to hear during this period in a busy festival around Europe. Yeah, sorry America, we don’t know about any cool music festival in July and August, apart from Burning Man which now is just an expensive festival for rich people to brag about how much they’re rich and famous people to show themselves in public without really show themselves in public because they will be in some expensive futurist vehicle looking to you from above, or with strange steampunk glasses and a cheap poncho pretending they are really creating a cool cosplay to what. You are actually not. With this being said, screw Burning Man and long-live Hyperspace and the artists on it!
Fasten your seatbelt and get ready to jump over Speedlight.
GIARDINI OORT – “Echoes Of The Guru”
We were incredibly impressed by the complexity of this track, which is delivered in a very catchy way and accessible to anyone. Here we have Giardini Oort and the latest track Echoes Of The Guru. This track is more than just a song, this is a journey, ambient during its first listen, but quickly you’ll realize there’s a lot more. It evolves into an electronica track with many dark-wave ear candies. Not only this, we felt there were many hints to the early works from Nine Inch Nails, definitely the piano parts and vocal style reminded us of them. The female vocal parts instead reminded us of bands like Massive Attack and a bit of Aurora. Incredible release and artist to follow.
NATALIE CLARK – “A Place Called Home”
While listening to this artist, it really came as no surprise that Natalie Clark was featured in several Netflix shows. The production not only is top-notch, but she is able to deliver songs that are catchy and stay stuck in your mind after just one listen. That’s the case of A Place Called Home. An Anthemic Pop track with a clever and very soothing vocal melody. The instrumentation has several inspirations, from indie Pop, (it reminded us a bit of Owl City), Drum and Bass, and a bit of Synthwave as well (especially during the chorus). That’s the perfect recipe for a track that stands out from the rest of the music you typically listen to. But here we have real talent, and that’s undeniable.
MICHAEL DONOGHUE – “Time Machine”
Now, you’ll find in front of you one of those releases that seldom you’ll find pushed by the Spotify algorithm. The reason probably it is because it is too good and doesn’t fall into the canonical conception we have of music. But luckily for you, we found this hidden gem and had to share it with you all. Here we are listening to this album called Time Machine, produced by Michael Donoghue. We found ourselves listening to an Avant-garde release with many Ambient elements. The synths and arrangement used, make this album perfect for a movie. But the great thing about this release is the versatility, as we would not just hear some sci-fi vibes, but the tracks on this record can sound perfectly in a psychological or even thriller movie. If you’re looking for some cinematic and electronic album, save this one on your playlists.
CAVN – “Late August”
We’re now flying to one of our favourite cities in the world, which is of course London, to meet with an incredible new artist and producer that goes under the name of CAVN. This talented artist just released her third single later last week, which is called Late August. The title definitely fits the time, as we are going to listen on repeat throughout the month. That’s the perfect soundtrack for those moments when you have to concentrate and give your best. This is not only a classical-inspired instrumental, as it has many sound design layers that come out during the final part of the song particularly, but rather a complex and intense arrangement able to uplift the soul of every listener.
